This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to swap tokens using Tokenlon, whether you are using the imToken mobile app or imToken Web.

Prerequisites

Before you start swapping, make sure you have:

imToken App – Version 2.15.1 or later for the best multi-chain experience. You can download the latest version from the imToken official website.

Tokens in your wallet – You need to have the token you want to swap in your imToken wallet.

Network fees (Gas) – You will need some native network tokens (like ETH on Ethereum, or MATIC on Polygon) to pay for transaction fees.

Method 1: Swap Tokens in the imToken Mobile App

This is the most common way to use Tokenlon.

Step 1: Open the Market Page

Open your imToken app and tap the “Market” button at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Find Tokenlon

Swipe the top tab bar to the left until you see Tokenlon. A list of trading pairs will appear on the page.

Step 3: Select Your Trading Pair

Tap on the trading pair you want to swap. For example, if you want to swap ETH for USDC, find and tap the ETH/USDC pair.

Step 4: Authorize the Token (First Time Only)

If this is your first time swapping a particular token, you need to authorize it first:

Tap the “lock” icon in the upper right corner.

Turn on the authorization switch for the token you want to trade.

Confirm the authorization transaction – this will initiate a 0 ETH payment.

Enter your wallet password and wait for the authorization to complete.

Once successful, the “lock” icon will change to an open state.

Why authorization is needed: Tokenlon uses smart contracts to execute swaps. Authorizing allows the contract to access the specific token you want to trade.

Step 5: Enter Swap Details

Enter the amount of the token you want to swap.

The system will automatically display the real-time exchange rate and the estimated amount you will receive.

Review the transaction details carefully.

Step 6: Confirm and Execute the Swap

Tap the swap button (labeled “Swap” or “Exchange”).

Review the order preview.

Tap “Confirm” to submit the transaction.

imToken will display a signature confirmation pop-up – tap “Confirm” again to broadcast the transaction on-chain.

Step 7: Wait for Completion

Wait for the transaction to be confirmed on the blockchain. Once successful, the swapped tokens will appear in your wallet balance.

Method 2: Swap Tokens via imToken Web

If you are using imToken Web (web.token.im), the process is slightly different:

Step 1: Access Token Details

Open imToken Web in your browser and go to the token details page for the token you want to swap.

Step 2: Open Swap

Tap the token function button (located to the left of the Send button) and select “Swap”. This will take you to the Tokenlon page.

Step 3: Connect Your Wallet

Tap “Connect Wallet” and select imToken Web (Beta) to connect.

Step 4: Complete the Swap

Select the tokens you want to swap, enter the amount, review the details, and confirm the transaction.

Multi-Chain Swapping

Tokenlon supports swapping on multiple networks. To swap on a different network:

Make sure your imToken app is version 2.15.1 or higher.

Switch your wallet to the desired network (e.g., Arbitrum, Polygon, Optimism, or BNB Chain).

Go to the Market page – you will now see trading pairs available on that network.

Currently supported networks include: Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, BNB Chain, Base, and Unichain.

Important Tips for Beginners

Check the network – Make sure you are swapping on the correct network. Tokens on different networks are not interchangeable.

Have enough gas – Ensure you have enough native tokens (ETH, MATIC, etc.) in your wallet to cover transaction fees.

Review the rate – Tokenlon shows you the exact rate before you confirm. Double-check the estimated output amount before signing.

Start small – If you are new, try a small swap first to understand the process before making larger trades.

Keep your wallet updated – Always use the latest version of imToken for the best experience and latest features.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

“Token not authorized” error – Go back to Step 4 and complete the token authorization process.

Transaction stuck/pending – Check your network connection and ensure you have enough gas. You may need to wait for network congestion to clear.

Can‘t find Tokenlon – Make sure you are on the Market page and swipe the top tab all the way to the left.

Swap not available on my network – Not all tokens are available on all networks. Try switching to a different supported network.
