Tokenlon is a decentralized exchange (DEX) built into imToken that allows you to swap one cryptocurrency for another directly within your wallet. It uses smart contract technology and the 0x DEX protocol to provide fast, secure, and convenient token swaps.

This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to swap tokens using Tokenlon.

What Is Tokenlon?

Tokenlon is a collection of currency exchange functions in imToken 2.0. It is a decentralized exchange that offers "fast speed," "competitive prices," and "wide token selection" for peer-to-peer token swaps.

Prerequisites

Before you start swapping, make sure you have:

imToken App – Version 2.15.1 or later for the best multi-chain experience. Version 2.14 or above is required for multi-chain support.

Tokens in your wallet – You need to have the token you want to swap.

Network fees (Gas) – You will need native network tokens to pay for transaction fees. On Polygon, for example, you need MATIC to pay gas fees.

How to Swap Tokens in the imToken App

Step 1: Open the Market Page

Open imToken and tap the "Market" button on the bottom tab bar to access the market page.

Step 2: Find Tokenlon

Slide the top tab bar to the left until you see Tokenlon. A list of trading pairs will appear on the page.

Step 3: Select Your Trading Pair

Tap on the trading pair you want to swap. For example, if you want to swap SNT for WETH, find and tap the SNT/WETH pair.

Step 4: Authorize the Token (First Time Only)

Before trading, you must authorize the tokens you want to trade.

Tap the "lock" icon in the upper right corner.

Turn on the authorization switch for the token you want to trade.

Confirm the authorization transaction – this will initiate a 0 ETH payment.

Enter your wallet password and wait for the payment to complete.

Once successful, the "lock" icon will turn to an open state, meaning authorization is complete.

Why authorization is needed: Authorization allows Tokenlon's smart contract to gain transfer permission for the token, enabling the swap to execute when you initiate a transaction.

Note: Swapping ETH for other tokens does not require authorization. Only ERC-20 tokens need authorization.

Step 5: Enter Swap Details

Enter the amount of the token you want to swap.

The system will automatically display the real-time exchange rate and the estimated amount you will receive.

Tokenlon implements "what you see is what you get" – the amount you see in the input box is the final amount you will receive.

Step 6: Confirm and Execute the Swap

Tap the swap button to initiate the trade.

Review the transaction details carefully.

Confirm and enter your wallet password.

Wait for the transaction to be confirmed on the blockchain.

Step 7: View Swap History

You can tap "Transaction History" to view your swap details and成交 records.

How to Swap Tokens via imToken Web

If you are using imToken Web (web.token.im):

Step 1: Access Token Details

Open imToken Web in your browser and go to the token details page for the token you want to swap.

Step 2: Open Swap

Tap the Token Function button (located to the left of Send) and select "Swap". This will take you to the Tokenlon page.

Step 3: Connect Your Wallet

Tap "Connect Wallet" and select imToken Web (Beta) to connect.

Step 4: Complete the Swap

Select the tokens you want to swap, enter the amount, review the details, and confirm the transaction.

How to Swap on a Different Network

Method 1 – Switch the network on the wallet homepage first:

Make sure your imToken app is version 2.14 or above.

Switch your wallet to the desired network (e.g., Arbitrum, Optimism, or Polygon).

Go to the "Market" page to perform exchanges on that network.

Method 2 – Switch within the Market page:

Go to the "Market" page.

Click on the network icon in the upper left corner.

Select Arbitrum, Optimism, or Polygon to switch the network.

Perform exchanges on the corresponding network.

Multi-Chain Features

Trade any asset from your wallet without needing the token to be listed

Trading fees on multi-chain networks are 0.15% (compared to Ethereum network fees)

Important Tips for Beginners

Check the network – Make sure you are swapping on the correct network. Tokens on different networks are not interchangeable.

Have enough gas – Ensure you have enough native tokens in your wallet to cover transaction fees. On Polygon, you need MATIC.

Token authorization – ERC-20 tokens require authorization before the first swap. ETH does not.

Update your app – Always use the latest version of imToken (2.15.1 or above) for the best multi-chain experience.

Start small – If you are new, try a small swap first to understand the process before making larger trades.

Regional restrictions – In compliance with regulatory policies, imToken has limited access to the token swap feature under the "Market" tab for users in Singapore and mainland China (determined by IP).

Troubleshooting Common Issues

"Token not authorized" error – Complete the token authorization process by tapping the lock icon and confirming the 0 ETH transaction.

Can't swap on Polygon – Make sure you have MATIC in your wallet to pay gas fees. Unlike Arbitrum and Optimism, Polygon's native token is MATIC.

Can't find Tokenlon – Make sure you are on the Market page and swipe the top tab all the way to the left.

Swap not available on my network – Not all tokens are available on all networks. Try switching to a different supported network.

Transaction stuck – Check your network connection and ensure you have enough gas. Most swaps complete within 60 seconds.
